Madewell Shirt/Levi’s Shorts/Forever 21 Sandals/Forever 21 Sunglasses
The start of a new season means new activities to try, places to go, and things to celebrate! These are the things I am looking forward to this summer.
Farmer’s Markets
Who doesn’t love a good farmer’s market?? The food is organic and locally grown, which is better for your body and your community. I also love discovering local businesses that sell other products like cheese, soap, coffee/tea, etc.
Clifford’s First Birthday
This occasion is bittersweet in my mind. I’m excited to celebrate my little boy’s first year in August, but I also wish time would slow down! I can’t believe he is going to be one in THREE months. Aside from all the sappy mom-feels, I am having fun researching party theme ideas! There is a finite amount of birthdays where Clifford will let us choose his party theme, so I am definitely going to take advantage of that!
Beach/Pool Days
I’ve always loved going to the beach, but all of the summers I lived in MI I didn’t go often because I never found a decent beach in the Detroit area. Now that I live off of the coast of Lake Michigan again, you can bet that I’ll be laying in the sand soaking up the rays this summer. Plus, we learned in Florida that Clifford LOVES sand and splashing around in the pool!
Dinner and Drinks Al Fresco
There’s just something about eating and drinking outdoors! This is a little peak at our patio that is no where near done. I need to find a place for my fern, clean our outdoor cushions, and add some twinkly lights. I can’t wait to spend many nights drinking/grilling on the patio and soaking up the sun in our new backyard.
Warm Weather Style
Summer whites, linen, denim cutoffs, breezy dresses, slides, straw hats, I could go on and on! I love the casual, easiness of summer style. This year, I am gravitated towards high-waist Levi’s, vintage-inspired jumpsuits, and basic tees to pair with fun shoes, jewelry, and bags.
Outdoor Summer Events
I’m sure I’ll make it to Summerfest one day, but I’m not really a concert person so that’s not where my excitement lies. I am most looking forward to going to some nearby small towns for festivals, like Strawberry Fest in Cedarburg or some sort of art festival in a sleepy town. I love the idea of staying in a quaint bed and breakfast and exploring some cute little town for the weekend.
Beach-Inspired Home Decor and Scents
I love the idea of updating home decor with subtle summer touches, such as nautical stripes, tropical plants, summer whites, wicker, driftwood, florals, patriotic colors and accents, and even picnic inspired patterns like the gingham pillows above. I also love swapping out my pumpkin, cinnamon, and pine scented winter candles for fruity and floral scents.
Summer Weather
Obviously. Warm weather and blue skies are no doubt a major treat after all those months of snow and ice, but I also love a good thunderstorm. Sans tornadoes of course.
Outdoor Workouts and Long Walks
I love the idea of doing my workout on our backyard patio in the cool morning hours while Clifford takes his AM nap. Our home gym is in our basement and the ceiling is too low to jump rope, so I’m looking forward to being able to do that outside now that it’s warming up.
Gardening
My husband and I planted this adorable little garden last week and I hope we can harvest a good amount of veggies from it this summer. We planted strawberries, kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. Basically, we are growing the perfect salad.
